Here at Grounded Yoga we are committed to building strength and stability from the inside out.

The yoga asanas are based upon the principle of learning to let go of tension and pain in your body, rather than an exercise in endurance as you try to achieve a set of rigid poses. It promotes overall well being.

Grounded Yoga fuses yoga movement, breathwork and mindfulness creating space to fully nourish your being. We learn to observe what is happening in the moment it is happening in, cultivating non-judgement and care in these moments.

We encourage you to connect fully with your breath and body before heading into any sequence or set of postures. The invitation is to integrate mindful techniques into the practice and deepen the connection between mind, body and breath.

You will naturally become limber, lighter, freer and more toned, but more importantly more excepting of yourself and perhaps the world around you.

grounding to grow

When your foundation is evenly grounded and also buoyant, there is an equal and opposite action upwards and outwards into the spine and the lungs, this allows the spine to ripple with elasticity, lightness, and freedom.

Frequently coming back to the connection you have through your foundation to the earth whether that be through standing,  sitting, or balancing on one leg, will keep you grounded. This practice has many benefits, such as stability in postures, calming on the nervous system, feeling more in control and is great for anxiety or stress-related symptoms.

It is very easy in life to become increasingly disconnected from yourself, there is simply so much distraction. Practising coming back home to yourself and being grounded can bring a large sense of reconnection back into your life.

This is about having a continuous dialogue with the ground. It is not a static, dull, heavy relationship; it is a dynamic, light, playful, intimate and curious relationship.

What to expect

– A combination of dynamic and static postures, including Vinyasa flow sequencing, Hatha yoga postures and breathing techniques.

– Mindfulness and Meditation practice.

– A relaxed and friendly environment.

– Practises that engage and regulate your Autonomic Nervous System bringing the body to a state of balance

– To be able to practise at your own pace while receiving guided instruction which suits you as an individual

– Moments of a conscious effort married with moments of complete relaxation

– To receive that precious ‘ME’ time

These sessions are aimed to benefit you both mentally and physically; helping you to relax and reduce stress, whilst increasing strength and flexibility. We use intuition-inspired progressive sequencing to ‘undo’ the body, by stretching and releasing connective tissue and freeing the spine.
